WILLARD WYMAN
WILLARD WYMAN did not begin writing fiction until retiring from a long academic career, teaching literature and serving as dean of students at both Colby College and Stanford before becoming the headmaster of The Thacher School. In addition, and throughout his life, he has worked as a packer, wrangler and guide in the Bob Marshall Wilderness area of Montana and in the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada.
The Western Writers of America named his novel, High Country Best First Novel. High Country also won the Western Writers of America 2006 award for Best Novel of the West. Wyman has also published in, EPOCH, Cornell University’s literary magazine. His second novel, Blue Heaven, is now with the University of Oklahoma Press.
